Biography

Travis Harvill focuses his practice on oil and gas title examination, transactional support, and complex property analysis across Texas, Arkansas, and other producing jurisdictions. His work centers on delivering comprehensive title opinions that not only reflect true ownership but also minimize litigation risk and withstand judicial scrutiny.

Travis has prepared, or managed to completion, hundreds of title opinions, including drilling, division order, acquisition, and supplemental opinions. He is regularly engaged to address complex title issues, including the correction and updating of prior opinions, multi-generational title defects, legacy leasing practices, unitization, and evolving legal standards — such as the interpretation of mineral reservations following Van Dyke v. Navigator Group.

His experience extends beyond Texas and Arkansas, having collaborated with counsel on title projects in multiple jurisdictions, including North Dakota, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Florida, Kansas, Ohio, and West Virginia. He has worked extensively across oil, gas, and emerging brine and lithium developments, advising clients on title matters tied to both traditional and evolving resource plays.

In addition to title examination, Travis advises exploration and production companies on a broad range of upstream matters, including acquisitions and divestitures, regulatory issues, pooling/integration, conveyance interpretation, leasehold interests, drilling and farmout agreements, and production sharing agreements. He is actively involved in day-to-day operational matters, providing practical legal guidance aligned with client objectives and field realities.

Travis’ practice is defined by a detail-oriented, solutions-driven approach, with a focus on identifying risk early, resolving, title defects efficiently, and supporting successful transactions and operations.

Travis earned his law degree from Baylor Law School, where he was a Member of the Order of Barristers. He is licensed to practice in Texas and Arkansas.
