Jason Smith

Biography

Jason Smith is a senior attorney at Oliva Gibbs with 18 years of specialized experience in oil and gas law and commercial real estate transactions. Licensed to practice in Texas, he has built a distinguished career with particular expertise in title work and oil and gas leasing.

Jason has written numerous leasehold acquisition, drilling, and division order title opinions, and has extensive experience reviewing and briefing complex oil and gas leases for lessee clients, including editing and drafting oil and gas leases. He also has experience drafting upstream and midstream agreements, including joint operating agreements, gathering agreements, and pipeline rights-of-way, and has advised clients on the acquisition and divestiture of both onshore and offshore oil and gas assets.

Jason’s deep understanding of the energy industry and commercial real estate sector enables him to provide strategic counsel to clients navigating sophisticated business transactions and regulatory challenges.

In his spare time, Jason serves on the City Council of Castle Hills, TX, where he lives with his wife Jennifer and their many cats.
